IT Open House a Success

by Jane Marcus

Everybody won at this year's Information and Technology Open House, held on November 1 in Meyer and Green Libraries. There were free tchotchkes, tours, raffles, hands-on demos, wizards with information to share, and, as always, live people to answer your questions about information and technology services.

Sponsored collaboratively by IT Services, Stanford University Libraries & Academic Information Resources, and Campus Wide Agreements, this annual event features "everyone in one place." It's the perfect opportunity to walk around at your own pace and find friendly, accessible people ready to answer questions you may not have even known you had! Whether you came in to ask questions of humans or gawk at a robot or a virtual globe, you came away a winner. A deserving grad student won the grand raffle prize, an Apple MacBook.

More than 500 attendees and 100 exhibitors, including key commercial vendors, contributed to a variety of exhibits, products, services, and demos. If you're new to Stanford - and even if you've been here for a long time - the IT Open House is a great opportunity to learn about new products and technology.
